Lightfoot was with AFC last season before moving to Cheadle Town and has also represented Charnock Richard.

In March 2018, he joined then-Northern Premier League Skelmersdale United on dual registration with Vanarama National League outfit Chorley, where he started out.

He represented Lancashire under-18s as well as both the under-18s and under-21s at Chorley where his performances earned him a senior contract and a trial at Accrington Stanley.
