Salmon
quit as boss of Thurlow Nunn League Division One South side Burnham Ramblers,
where he gained a reputation for bringing through talented youngsters.
A
former forward with the likes of Enfield 1893, Southend Manor and Basildon, Salmon
told www.basildonunited.co.uk: “I am excited to be joining Basildon United at
the start of this new project. I understand the local community and really buy
into the club’s plans. It is part of my philosophy that I am a manager of a
club and not just a first team.”
Meanwhile,
with Salmon coming in, Basildon announced the departure of their interim boss
Kris Newby.
Newby
was brought to the club by former manager John Sussex in September as a player,
and thrust into the hot-seat at the end of last year, overseeing his first
match as manager on New Year`s Day as the Bees beat Grays Athletic 4-2.
A
club statement read: “The club have parted ways with interim manager Kris Newby
by mutual consent.
“We
would like to thank Kris and his management team for their hard work during
their time in charge”.
