The left-back won the National League with Cheltenham Town during 2015/16 season and went on to have a brief spell at Sutton United and was most recently with home-town club Ashford United in the Bostik League South.

The Stones boss had been aware of McLennan for some time and invited him in to train with the club and, after seeing him this week, the 22-year-old was offered a deal for the forthcoming season.

Saunders told www.maidstoneunited.co.uk: “George is someone I was aware of and to be honest I have been really impressed with him over the last couple of sessions. He’s a local lad and he had a really good end to the season with Ashford.

“Previously he’s won this league with Cheltenham, so he’s got experience as well and still only 22. For me he ticks a lot of boxes – a good size, a good age and will be a great addition to the squad”.
