The
36-year-old took over as player boss in February 2018 having previously been
player-coach at the then-named Waltham Forest.
A
much-travelled player with over 35 clubs, Maxwell, who started his career with
Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Reading as a youngster, has since featured for the
likes of Hamilton Academical and Raith Rovers in Scotland, Dagenham &
Redbridge, Tonbridge Angels, Llanelli in Wales, Larne in Northern Ireland and
has had several spells with Heybridge Swifts.
Perkins
issued the following statement: “It is with regret that I have to announce that
Ryan Maxwell and Walthamstow FC have mutually agreed to part company.
“Ryan
and I have been good friends for a number of years; indeed, I was instrumental
in bringing him to the club two years ago.
“In
his first three months at the club, Ryan saved us from relegation and then
looked to build on that last season when we came third in the Essex Senior
League.
“This
season sees us in second place in the league and having had a really exciting
FA Cup run. This was achieved with a great deal of hard work on Ryan’s part and
we thank him for this.
“Ryan
has had offers from clubs playing in leagues above as and we feel that we
should not hold him back from getting to the highest level in management,
which, I feel sure he will achieve.
“As
a consequence, we are now looking to appoint a manager who feels he can take us
to the next level. We are very ambitious and look to appoint someone with the
experience and contacts to allow us to do this. In the first instance, please
