The
41-year-old has been playing for Woodbridge Town in the Thurlow Nunn League for
the past couple of seasons and will remain on dual registration with the
Notcutts Park outfit.
Edwards,
who was with Ipswich between 2009 and 2014 will also be assisting with the
coaching team at the Denny Bros Stadium.
He
played almost 180 times for the Tractor Boys, many as club captain, after
spells with Wrexham, Luton Town and Sunderland.
He
played abroad for Trinidad & Tobago clubs Ma Pau Stars and Central Football
Club - based in California - who play in the TT Pro League.
The
90-times Trinidad & Tobago capped Edwards` last English professional club
was Millwall, where he was still playing in 2016 on a short-term deal.
Popular
with Ipswich fans, Edwards played as a right winger under Roy Keane but
switched to right-back when Paul Jewell became manager.
He
became Ipswich captain in March 2012 and was voted the players’ player of the
year for the 2011/12 season.
Edwards
comes in as it was confirmed this week that Jake Chambers Shaw will be out for
around two months after suffering ligament damage to his shoulder in the defeat
at Tilbury last weekend.
Manager
Ben Chenery told https://www.burytownfc.co.uk: "Carlos will be a big signing
for us and will be involved tomorrow, which will be a big boost after we lost
Jake last weekend for around two months.
"We
have been really unlucky with injuries and we've now lost our two most
influential midfielders, both of whom were signed on contracts in the summer
because they were vital to our season.
"Carlos
can help us fill that void and it will hopefully be a boost to the rest of the
squad. He is as fit now as he was when he was a professional and he has been
controlling games and scoring goals at Woodbridge so I'm sure he can recreate
that one level higher".
