Manager Justin Gardner was delighted to obtain the services of experienced 34-year-old Gary Cohen from league rivals Soham Town Rangers.

Cohen is a forward who can also play at full-back.

He made 39 appearances and scored 3 goals for the Greens last season after joining them from AFC Hornchurch.

He came out of retirement to join Royston Town in 2015 and then moved to the Urchins in 2017 ahead of his switch to Julius Martin Lane with Soham.

He has previously been with Scarborough, Workington AFC, Grimsby Town, Gretna and St Albans City, having started out at Watford.

Midfielder Jack Edwards has also joined the Blues.

Edwards previously worked under Gardner at Aveley.

He started his career at Southend United in the youth set-up after rejecting fellow Essex side Colchester United.

He went on to captain the Southend youth side until he was released by Phil Brown in 2014.

He Aveley joined from Bishop`s Stortford, initially on loan, but eventually joined until the end of the 2015/16 season.

The Blues have also announced that Ben O`Brien, who skippered their Essex Senior League winning side, will be returning next season.

O`Brien has made 349 appearances in a Barking shirt, making him currently fifth in all-time appearance list.

Also returning to Mayesbrook are Emmanuel Olajide, Jack McQueen, Jordan Peart and Billy Reynolds.

Goalkeeper Olajide joined from Essex Senior Leaguers Clapton during the season and went on to make 15 appearances between the sticks.

Young defender McQueen made an impressive debut against Mildenhall Town last season and captained Barking`s youth side and was also frequently selected for Essex under-18s.

Pacey winger Peart joined from Aveley during the season and made 17 appearances in total, while Reynolds will be looking to add to his 62 appearances overall, having returned from serious injury last season.
