Brett Whaley’s first few days in charge of BetVictor Northern Premier League Division One South East club Wisbech Town have seen several new players join the club, the latest of these being two goalkeepers and a couple of familiar faces.

Following the earlier return of Sam Murphy and Beckham Kennelly, Whaley has now added Stacy Cartwright, Matt Sparrow and James Connell have also re-joined the Fenmen with Josh Allen also being added to his squad.

Left-sided defender Cartwright played 125 games for the Fenmen between 2010 and 2014 before joining Uhlsport United Counties League Premier Division neighbours Holbeach United.

He has also played in the UCL Premier Division with Deeping Rangers and Pinchbeck United.

Winger Sparrow (pictured), 25, had a season with the Fenmen in 2015/16 under Whaley and then Dick Creasey before joining Yaxley in June 2016.

However, he joined Southern Premier Division Central outfit Peterborough Sports in December 2019 from Isthmian North side Cambridge City.

He had moved to City in the summer of 2019 from Yaxley where he scored 12 goals for the Cuckoos as they made their debut in the Southern Division One Central.

He helped Yaxley win the United Counties League with 21 goals in 2017/18 after joining from Deeping Rangers.

Goalkeeper James Connell joined the Fenmen in February 2019 and played five games as cover for Dan Swan.

Connell joined Southern Division One Central newcomers Biggleswade FC in August 2019 from reigning champions Peterborough Sports.

He has been gaining experience in the non-League game after playing development football at Mansfield Town.

The new face is 19-year-old Josh Allen, who is SkyBet League One side Peterborough United’s under-18s goalkeeper and joins on `work experience`.
