....James Pritchard to come out of `retirement` to take over as their new manager.

Pritchard has managerial experience with Flackwell Heath as player-manager, Beaconsfield SYCOB and latterly Penn & Tylers Green.

He has found success at both Beaconsfield, where he led the club to its first ever Berks & Bucks Senior Cup triumph as well as the Southern League Division One East play-offs before taking a break from senior football, eventually joining up with Penn & Tylers Green where two successive Uhlsport Hellenic League Division One titles were achieved during his recent three-year tenure.

As a player James played for Wokingham Town, Flackwell Heath, Maidenhead United, Uxbridge and Slough Town but is better known locally for over 300 appearances for Marlow while scoring in excess of 100 goals from the centre of midfield.

No stranger to United it was Pritchard’s winning goal at Wilks Park that clinched the 2004/05 Reading League title for the Blues.

Chairman Alan Turner told the club`s website: “While the appointment of James isn’t a major shock due to the many local connections that we have it is nevertheless a major coup for the club.

“United have always set a high bar and James has the experience, wherewithal and sheer professionalism to ensure he gets the best out of the squad, a squad that will undoubtedly evolve over pre-season.

“We are delighted to welcome James back to the club and wish him every success.”

United will be groundsharing with Marlow FC at Oak Tree Road and Pritchard believes the groundshare will encourage players to join the club, admitting it was also a ‘carrot’ for him to join.

He has moved quickly to assemble his management team, with former Marlow striker Yashwa Romeo appointed as assistant-manager along with Sean Kelleher in a dual role.

Marlow United stalwart Dan Carvell takes on the role of first-team coach and is joined by the returning Adam Dickens, who will take on the role of first-team player-coach.

Romeo brings a wealth of experience to the table having played for Hungerford Town, Oxford City, Thatcham Town, Burnham, Slough Town and Marlow.

Most recently he formed part of the Thatcham Town management team.

Kelleher is a former midfielder who played for Holmer Green, Chalfont St Peter and Uxbridge among others.

Kelleher has made himself a career in coaching being development coach at both Wycombe Wanderers and Watford academies, having coached and managed at senior level, firstly as player-coach at Reading Town, then onto Burnham and then Hayes & Yeading United as youth and reserve team coach.

He was also assistant-manager at near-neighbours Flackwell Heath.

Kelleher is a UEFA B qualified coach who aspires to complete his UEFA A Licence in the next two years.

Carvell has filled both a playing and management role at the club for almost thirty years and provides continuity and familiarity to an already successful squad while Dickens, who began his senior career at United as a 15-year-old, returns following successful spells at Marlow, Burnham, Maidenhead United, Windsor FC and Slough Town as well as various seasons with United.
