Vanarama National League South new boys Torquay United have signed defender Ben Wynter.

Wynter, 20, joins after spending the latter part of the 2017/18 with new league rivals Hampton & Richmond Borough.

Wynter, who is primarily a right-back, but can also play at centre-back, joined the Beavers on a permanent basis in March from National League side Bromley, who cancelled the rest of his contract.

Wynter joined the Ravens in June 2017 following his release from Premier League Crystal Palace.

Wynter played for both Palace under-18 and under-21 sides and signed his first professional contract at Selhurst Park in June 2016 and came on for Palace in a 3-1 friendly win of Spanish side Valencia.

Wynter told Torquay`s official website: “I’m really excited for this move.

“When my agent got on the phone to me it was a big wake-up call that Torquay were interested in me, they’re a massive club.

“I hope to just do as well as I can for the team and help to get the club back to where it should be”.
