....ahead of the up-coming season in the newly constituted Evo-Stik Northern Premier League West.
As well as a number of last season’s players, including Jerome Wright, Greg Daniels, Sam Ashton, Jamie Rother, Ryan Ellison and Tom Brooks, manager Mark Fell began his recruiting for the new campaign with the addition of two new signings, although one of them is well known to Rammy supporters.
Fell announced the permanent signing of Luke Jordan from SkyBet League Two side Morecambe.
The 19-year-old, Burnley-based winger impressed in a loan spell at the Riverside at the end of last season, making 11 appearances scoring 1 goal.
Fell, entering his third season with the club, was impressed with the youngster, telling http://www.rammyunited.co.uk: “Luke undoubtedly has the potential to light up this league, his pace is unreal and his delivery into the box from wide areas is excellent. As with any young player, there are areas we will have to work on, but he’s got the capacity to learn.
“This is a lad who has played Football League games and he’s got every chance of working his way back up the Pyramid. He needs to be playing men’s football week in week out and we’re a good platform for him to do that whilst still in a really professional environment.”
Ramsbottom have also added defender Rob Henry from NPL Premier side Lancaster City.
The 29-year-old, Preston-based full-back is an experienced NPL defender who has won Division One North with the Dolly Blues in 2016/17.
The former Kendal Town, Bamber Bridge, Leek Town and Chorley player started his career in the academy at Burnley and works as a teacher and coach at Myerscough College and Preston North End.
“I worked with Rob a lot when we were at Preston together,” said Fell. “He’s experienced, knows the division inside out and what it takes to do well in it.
“Last season we were naive at times and I wanted to bring in a few players who could have an influence over the younger lads and Instil that winning mentality. The fact we took points off five of the top seven yet lost away from home at the bottom six speaks volumes and I’ve got to put things in place to prevent that”. |
