Jones, now 43, will also take on a coaching role alongside the management team of Stuart Tulloch and Elliot Ledwards.

He started out in non-League football with Chadderton and got his break in League football with Crewe Alexandra, who signed him from Leigh RMI in July 2001 for a fee totalling £150,000.

He went on to score 40 goals in 162 appearances for Crewe and added further League games to his tally with Rochdale, Burnley, Huddersfield Town and Walsall, and also gained 29 caps for Northern Ireland, scoring once.

More recently, the veteran has been with BetVictor Northern Premier League Premier Division club Nantwich Town as well as Cymru Premier side Airbus UK Broughton.

Alsager have also signed defensive midfielder Lyndon Campbell from league rivals Sandbach United.

He was previously with NPL Division One South East outfit Market Drayton Town for several seasons.
