Cook,
who was already on the staff as a coach, only took over in November following
the departure of Jimmy Bratten.
Cook
said: "Firstly, I want to address the fact that we have stepped away from
Huntingdon Town with immediate effect.
“With
the club in a tough position in the league, they decided something needed to be
changed. I was told that the club would be speaking to other people to try and
strengthen the management.
“With
that being said, I was being asked to stay on in my role as manager, but
without full control of my team. This is something that I could no longer be a
part of as it’s something I disagreed with. I was very unsure on where I would
fit and who would be taking a lead.
“I’m extremely proud of the players for starting to compete in the league again
and finding a philosophy that best suited us. I have full faith in the players
to be able to escape relegation.
“Although
my stint in management was short, I am proud of what I have done with little
resources. I jumped in with two feet when no one else would.
“I
would also like to say I’m grateful for the club with initially bringing me in
as a manager as it is a club I hold close to my heart”. |
