Lillis
arrived at the Crown Oil Arena from Scunthorpe United in May 2012 to start his
third spell with the club.
After
impressive displays in the 2013/14 promotion campaign, he committed himself to
Rochdale for a further two years - a deal which was later extended until the
end of last term.
Further
contract talks then saw Lillis sign for Dale for another two seasons, keeping
him at the Crown Oil Arena until June 2020.
Lillis
first joined Dale on an emergency loan from Scunthorpe in October 2009, playing
in a 4-0 win at AFC Bournemouth, before returning to Spotland for the first
half of the 2010/11 campaign.
The
son of former Derby and Manchester City player Mark Lillis went back to
Scunthorpe at the end of his loan spell, but found his chances limited at
Glanford Park and left the Iron at the end of 2011/12.
Aged
32, Lillis made his 278th appearance for Rochdale in their game at AFC
Wimbledon in December 2018, meaning he has played more games for the club than
any other goalkeeper. |
