Baker becomes the latest player to sign for the Dolly Blues, having spent 2017/18 with FC United of Manchester and Curzon Ashton in the Vanarama National League North.
Thirty-year-old Baker began his career at Manchester United before joining a host of professional clubs, including Preston North End, Bury and Oxford United.
His most successful spell in the Football League came with Bury, where he established himself as a first-team regular, making 107 appearances and scoring 6 goals.
After joining Barrow AFC in 2011, he became an integral part in the following two Conference campaigns for the Bluebirds in the middle of the park.
In March 2015, Baker joined AFC Fylde - after spending a season each with Tamworth and Stockport County - and would go on to make 68 appearances for the Coasters, scoring 17 goals.
Last season, he made 10 appearances in the National League North for Curzon Ashton, scoring 2 goals.
Manager Phil Brown told his club`s website: “Richie’s an attack-minded player. He carries a threat and has an eye for goal. He’s very good on the ball and tactically astute. Richie can play off the front or in a deeper midfield role. He’s versatile, which is really important to me as we won’t be carrying a large squad this season. It’s vital we have flexibility within the group. He’s another target secured and I’m sure the fans will enjoy watching Richie play”. |
