Chairman
Andy Crisp informed Driver of the decision in a telephone call.
Driver
said: “I have received a call from Andy Crisp relieving me of my duties as
manager of Leiston FC with immediate effect.
“This
is a decision I totally respect as the club look to appoint a new manager.
“I
want to place on record a massive thank you to all the players who have played under
me this season.
“I
was brought back to put a team on the pitch that would guide the club away from
the bottom of the league and as of today, I leave the club fourth from bottom
and out of the relegation places. My job and ours as of today has been
completed.”
Leiston
swiftly revealed the appointment of Darren Eadie and Chris Wigger as joint
first team managers.
Eadie
will need no introduction, having made 204 appearances for Norwich City between
1993 and 1999 and a further 40 appearances for Leicester City, before a
succession of knee injuries ended his playing career.
Wigger
was with Norwich as a youngster but never made a first team appearance.
He
then played most of his football career with Wroxham and Cromer (later as
player-manager) before taking up his role as manager of Sheringham Town in
November 2016.
He
steered the club from the bottom half of Anglian Combination Division One to
two promotions to the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North and a Mummery
Cup final. |
