Following
the departure of manager Ryan Austin, club legend Scott Dundas has returned as
the new man in charge.
Dundas,
who famously scored 53 goals in one season in the 1997/98 campaign, helped `Grove
to a league title, the League Cup and a famous run to the FA Vase Semi-Final in
his tenure with the club.
Dundas
told https://www.kidsgroveathleticfc.com:
“It’s surreal with everything going on at the moment but I’m absolutely
delighted to be Kidsgrove Athletic manager.
“I
started here in 1992 with Pete Ward so to be back as the manager is fantastic
and I have a great rapport with the fans.
“I
like to play fast, attractive football and my teams score goals, and I want to
be competing at the right end of the table.”
Vice-chairman
Ian Cooper said: "The club are extremely pleased with Scott's appointment
and given Scott's history with the club I'm sure it will be popular with our
supporters as well.
"With
all clubs facing uncertain times, Scott will be given time to build the team he
wants, to play the football he wants to play."
Dundas
will be accompanied by Anthony Buckle, who has previously managed the Grove.
Kidsgrove
earlier announced that all-time top goal scorer Anthony Malbon has agreed a new
two-year deal with the club.
The
forward has scored 147 goals for `Grove since he joined back in January 2015
from Stalybridge Celtic.
This
season Malbon has scored 15 goals in all competitions, 11 of which have come in
the league and in that time he has scored one hat-trick which came in the 5-0
home win against Wisbech Town back in November.
The
28-year-old has been the side’s top goalscorer in every season that he has been
at the club and last season he scored an incredible total of 32 goals. |
