The Linnets have swooped for defender Alex Brown from BetVictor Northern Premier League Premier Division side Buxton.

The 21-year-old has agreed a two-year deal at The Walks and, should the current season - under suspension because of the coronavirus – recommence would be eligible to play.

Brown came through the junior ranks at Sheffield United.

After a short spell with Toolstation Northern Counties East League outfit Hallam he moved to Sheffield FC and represented England C in Dublin in the summer of 2018 after originally being part of the contingency squad.

After trialling at Harrogate Town and FC United of Manchester he joined Buxton in August 2018 and looks comfortable playing at either left-back or left wing-back.
