....club Highgate United, have started recruiting for the 2018/19 campaign ahead.

The managerial duo was especially delighted to retain the services of experienced midfielder Richard Batchelor.

A combative midfielder, who has mostly played centrally but has also filled in out wide and up front in the past, Batchelor spent time with Stafford Rangers, Stourbridge and Highgate during last season.

He joined Stafford in October 2016 from Worcester City and went on to make 61 appearances, scoring 6 goals, before signing for the Glassboys in January 2018.

However, he left Stourbridge without playing a match – just ten days after he joined – as he couldn`t commit to the travelling distances required of him in the league and he joined Highgate.

Batchelor previously helped Leamington to promotion to the National League North and has also previously turned out for Brackley Town, Hednesford Town, Chasetown and Romulus.

Also staying with Batchelor is goalkeeper Brad Catlow along with Marco Adaggio, George Curry, James Wilcock, Trevor Edwards and Corey Currithers.

Among the new faces are midfielder Robbie Bunn, who played a key role in Smith's championship-winning side at Bromsgrove Sporting as did ex-Alvechurch man Connor Deards.

Bunn had been announced as having signed for league rivals Worcester City until Smith`s arrival at Highgate.

Another ex-Alvechurch man returning to Gate is midfielder McCauley Manning, a player that Smith has long admired.

The management duo have also brought in Nick Seabourne, who was player of the year with now West Midlands (Regional) League side Droitwich Spa in 2017/18 in the Midland League Division Two last season.
