The choice was made after long deliberations and a vigorous application process.

The vastly experienced 39-year-old spent from January 2020 to the premature end of the 2019/20 season with league rivals Tadcaster Albion.

He joined Taddy from another NPL North West outfit, Ossett United, where he had been since November 2018.

He won back-to-back play-off finals at Wembley with Bristol Rovers and then Grimsby Town and left NPL Premier Division side Whitby Town in 2018 to move close to home and also focus on coaching in the academy at Rotherham United, for whom he made 150 appearances at the start of his career.

The majority of his games came with Hartlepool United (290) and he also had spells with Swindon Town and Alfreton Town.

Monkhouse also holds an UEFA B License whilst working towards his UEFA A.
