The Barnsley-born 24-year-old began at his home-town club before making the move to Sheffield United, where he would go on to make 19 appearances for The Blades between 2011 and 2016 - all but one coming in League One.

Following a loan spell at Cambridge United, Kennedy joined Harrogate`s league rivals Alfreton Town for the 2016/17 season where he made thirty-eight appearances in a campaign that saw the Reds steer clear of relegation.

At the end of that season, Kennedy moved to Harrogate where he made 31 appearances in helping them to promotion with 9 goals, earning the club’s away supporters` player of the year award.
