Hurst Appointed New Ashton Town Boss
North West Counties League Division One North club Ashton Town have appointed former Bury and Chesterfield front man Glynn Hurst as manager, with former boss Lee Bignell as his assistant manager.

Hurst had been managing the newly formed Marine AFC reserve side, which re-formed in the 2019/20 season and had a very successful year.

 

Under Hurst, the reserves achieved promotion on the first time of asking from the West Cheshire League Third Division to the Second Division.

 

They also reached the League Cup final which has been re-scheduled to pre-season of the 2020/21 season.

 

Hurst enjoyed a long and successful football career with the likes of Bury, Ayr United, Notts County, Chesterfield and FC United of Manchester

 

He racked up almost 400 Football League appearances and scored well over 100 goals in the process.

 

He has also been assistant manager for Hyde United in the National League North and brings a wealth of coaching experience to the role.

 

He also coaches for Marine in the Community within local Primary Schools.
