Birmingham signed Maxwell from National League North side Kidderminster Harriers for a fee of £75,000 in January 2016.

He signed a three-and-a-half-year deal with the Blues and was loaned straight back to Harriers for the remainder of the 2015/16 campaign.

The midfielder played 32 games for Kidderminster since making his debut two seasons earlier.

Maxwell made nine appearances for Birmingham`s under-23 side during the 2017/18 campaign but has yet to make his first-team bow.

But this will be his third spell away from St Andrews as, as well as returning to Aggborough straight after joining the Blues, he also spent time out at Grimsby Town, making 4 appearances and Gateshead, for whom he played 8 times.
