Portland
found themselves without a manage when Brendan King resigned in April after two
seasons in charge – the team being in 11th place when lockdown ended
the campaign prematurely.
Brooks
was most recently on the management staff at Southern League Premier Division
South outfit Wimborne Town, joining them in December after stepping down as
manager of league rivals Dorchester Town earlier in the month after nine months
in charge.
Ironically,
it is the second time that Brooks has replaced Brendan King!
Brooks,
son of former AFC Bournemouth favourite Shaun Brooks, cut his teeth in
management at New Milton, guiding them to 11th and 6th in Wessex One in 2014
and 2015, respectively.
With
spells at Crystal Palace as a youngster and the Cherries as a coach within
their academy, he joined Poole Town initially to coach the first-team, manage
the development squad and link with the youth section to provide some
progression for talented players.
He
stepped up to be Tom Killick’s assistant during the 2015/16 season.
In
May 2018, Brooks replaced King at Hamworthy United to become the first team
manager at the County Ground before being appointed as boss at Dorchester in
March 2019. |
