Tony Reid and his assistant Martyn Lee stepped down from their positions in April and chairman Steve Perkins moved quickly to appoint the experienced Lane.

Lane is a vastly experienced coach and manager who, after a playing career with the likes of Yeovil Town, Woking, Bath City, Hayes and Aylesbury United was cut short by injury, took up to coaching from an early age, and has held a UEFA A coaching licence since 1998, when he was also club coach at Leighton Town.

He became the youngest head coach in European football, at just 31 years old, when given the opportunity to take charge of Maltese side Naxxar Lions, where he led the club to their highest-ever finish, and then had his first non-League managerial role with Berkhamsted Town in 2003.

Following a successful spell as Windsor & Eton boss, Lane then spent three years as first-team coach at Vanarama National League South side Maidenhead United alongside Johnson Hippolyte.

After managerial spells at Wingate & Finchley and Northwood, he has recently been scouting for Hayes & Yeading United.

Speaking to https://www.westfield-fc.com, Lane said: "I’m very happy to be joining such a well-run football club. I was really impressed with everyone I met, and with good people anything is possible in football.  We’ll all have to see what the new football reality is post Covid-19 but we’ll be ready and competitive; the hard work has already started.

“It’s my local club and I can’t wait to work with the players both old and new. I will be announcing the management team shortly, along with regular updates on incoming players for the new era".
