Matthew Gould, Tyler Forbes, Stephen Brogan, James Roberts, Adam Boyes and Jake Hibbs have all been released by the Moors.

Ainsley told https://spennymoortownfc.co.uk: “After two very successful years at the club we have made the decision not to renew Matty Gould’s contract.

“He has been fantastic during his spell with us, not only on the pitch but off it. He has thrown himself into his role with commitment, arranging and coaching numerous goalkeeping sessions within our academy for the younger players.

“His shot-stopping and important penalty saves have made him a crowd favourite and I cannot thank him enough for his efforts. Not only is he a very good goalkeeper but, more importantly, a very well-rounded young man who we wish all the very best in his next venture.”

On Forbes, Ainsley said: “Tyler came into the club towards the end of the season and was a breath of fresh air. His confidence was low when he came in after not playing much at AFC Fylde, but we soon got that back and his performances at right back were superb.

“He will always be remembered for his fantastic injury-time equaliser against Telford, along with his goals against Altrincham and Hereford. He was initially here on loan and is now deciding what his next step should be, having contributed massively during the second half of our season.

"I respect his wishes and truly believe he will play in the Football League again. We’re still in discussions with Tyler and we’ll see what his next step ends up being.”

“After two years at the club, Stephen Brogan moves on with our best wishes.

“He featured prominently in his time here, displaying his ability with his magnificent left foot.  He scored some memorable free-kicks for the team, including a brilliant winner at Darlington, and we thank him for his efforts.

“He is a model professional and, despite living in Sheffield, never missed a training session which shows the type of lad is. We have decided against offering Stephen a new deal.

“He was hugely popular amongst the lads and will leave a big void.”

And on James Roberts, Ainsley said: “I knew when I first met James what type of character I was signing, and he certainly didn’t disappoint. He is a real tireless worker with a fantastic attitude who gave his all for the shirt.

“He is a constant menace for defenders and grew in confidence as last season went on. He was immense at the back end of the season, but unfortunately due to the Covid-19 situation he has moved back down south to be with his family and can’t commit to being able to stay in the North East. We fully understand this situation and have supported James by not taking up his option and allowing him to become a free agent.

“Hopefully if another opportunity for James to move to the North East permanently presents itself, we might see him again in a Spennymoor shirt again.

And on Adam Boyes` (pictured) departure: “We signed Adam as we knew he was a proven goalscorer at this level and he scored some very important and invaluable goals for the club despite not playing as much as he would have liked.

“I really believe Adam signing for us brought tremendous competition for Glen Taylor and really took Glen’s game to the next level knowing he had top quality competition pushing him all the way for his place in the team.

“The system we played limited the available game time, but Adam never moaned. He trained extremely well every week and was a model professional throughout his time here.

“We have decided not to take up the option of keeping Adam at Spennymoor and he moves on with our best wishes.”

And finally, Ainsley said of Jake Hibbs: “We signed Hibbsy as a midfielder but over the two seasons he has spent with us his best performances were at right back, where he enjoyed a run of games.

“Hibbsy has been a great lad and even though he had limited game time he would always train well and was a valuable part of our squad.

“As we look forwards with our strategy for the squad, we have decided not to offer Jake a new deal. We wish him well for the future at his next club”.
