Thirty-one-year-old
Thompson left the Quakers last week having achieved their all-time scoring
record, equalling Alan Walsh’s 30-year-old record with a winning penalty,
ironically against Spennymoor, on Boxing Day 2019.
The
striker joined Darlington in September 2012 from Ebac Northern League side
Durham City.
He
started his career at Middlesbrough but didn’t make a first-team appearance,
and then in 2008 moved to Port Vale where he scored twice in 17 appearances.
He
was freed by Vale, and briefly joined AFC Telford United before returning to
the north east in the summer of 2010 with Durham, who were then in the Northern
Premier League.
He
was a regular scorer at New Ferens Park before he was transferred to the
Quakers.
Spennymoor
signed 25-year-old keeper Eve in February.
Eve,
born in Pembroke Parish in Bermuda, moved to England to play for Derby County’s
youth side in 2011 before catching the attention of Stoke City.
The
Potters signed him on a two-year development contract before he penned a
professional deal in May 2012, before spells at Fleetwood Town, Nuneaton Town,
Newcastle Town, Congleton Town and Forest Green Rovers.
Following
his release from Stoke, Eve (pictured) made a permanent switch to Forest Green and was
part of the squad that reached the National League Promotion Final at Wembley
in 2016.
He
returned to Bermuda with Dandy Tow and then had spells with Ilkeston Town,
Rushall Olympic and Kidderminster Harriers.
Eve
has represented his country 15 times, making his debut in November 2011 against
Barbados after rising through the youth ranks. |
