Manager Kevin Wilkin has been busy putting together his squad for the new campaign and many of last season`s squad have re-signed and several new players have joined.
A number of triallists are training with the squad and further new signings are expected in the lead up to the first league games in August.
Captain Gareth Dean, Shane Byrne, Lee Ndlovu, ‘keeper Danny Lewis, Ellis Myles, Matt Lowe, Luke Graham, Connor Franklin, James Armson, Glenn Walker and Adam Walker have all signed new terms for the 2018/19 season to retain the core of the squad from the club’s remarkable campaign last season.
Theo Streete has joined league rivals AFC Telford United, Aaron Williams has left for full-time football at promoted Harrogate Town, Steve Diggin has joined near-neighbours Banbury United, while Alex Gudger has moved to National League Solihull Moors.
Wilkin`s latest signing is Gregg Smith, who will be known to regular Saints supporters having played against Brackley for Boston United.
Smith, 28, is a striker who has also played at centre-back.
Smith enjoyed two seasons at Boston having been one of Dennis Greene’s first signings in July 2016 but suffered a serious ankle injury that kept him out for six months.
Previously he had spells at Spalding United, King’s Lynn Town, Grantham Town and Stamford AFC.
Shep Murombedzi, who joined in February, has agreed a new contract for the coming season.
Murombedzi, 24, had a professional contract at Reading, played at Torquay United under Kevin Nicholson before spending two successful seasons at Solihull Moors.
His debut at St James`s Park came against Darlington and he made an immediate impact in the team, featuring regularly in league fixtures at left or right wing-back but also in midfield and getting on the scoresheet.
Murombedzi was cup tied and so unable to play in the Trophy run.
Wilkin`s earlier signing was Connor Hall, 25, who plays in midfield or in defence and spent the last two seasons at Biggleswade Town in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier.
There he played alongside former Brackley men Jack Bowen and Greg Kaziboni.
Before that Hall had spells at Bury Town and St Neots. |
