The
attacker left Spennymoor citing a need to take on a new challenge, and he has opted
to join a Highwaymen outfit who are upwardly mobile after successive promotions,
with another being targeted when the league gets back underway.
Johnson
signed for Spennymoor in July 2016 from Ashington and played a starring role in
a number of key moments over the course of his time with Moors.
His
wonderful FA Cup First Round strike against MK Dons will go down in Spennymoor
folklore, but he scored almost a carbon copy again in the play-offs in April
2017 to sink Nantwich Town.
He
was touted by many clubs at Spennymoor’s level, before he decided to join The
Moors.
His
form during the 2017/18 campaign was nothing short of sensational, as he netted
20 times in all competitions, with his cup form in particular catching the eye.
Morpeth
have also confirmed that five of the current squad have penned new deals to
remain at Craik Park for the next two seasons.
Carl
Finnigan, Jack Foalle, Liam Henderson, Ryan Hutchinson and Michael Turner have
all agreed two-year deals with the club, with Sam Hodgson also set to follow
suit shortly.
The
Highwaymen can also confirm they have taken up the option to extend Joe
Walton’s contract, with the midfielder netting an impressing 16 goals in all
competitions last season to end as top scorer. |
