Colne pulled off
somewhat of a coup by signing Stopforth from Chester`s new league rivals Stockport
County just ahead of the signing deadline in March 2018.
Stopforth is a central
midfielder who started his career at Blackburn Rovers where he earned his first
professional deal.
He’s also had spells
in America with New Orleans Jesters and Baton Rouge Cult Capitals, and in England
with Kendal Town, AFC Fylde, Ramsbottom United and Salford City.
He had two spells
with Stockport, returning in July 2017 after spending seven months out in
Australia playing for Mitchelton FC.
The 31-year-old now
re-unites with joint-managers Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley, who he played
under at both Ramsbottom and Salford. |
