Wilde
was released by Vanarama National League side Notts County last month after
spending two years at Meadow Lane.
A
former captain of the Magpies` under-18 side, Wilde told https://www.longeatonutd.co.uk:
“Being the captain of a youth team at that level is very difficult, you go
through a lot of emotions with the players because you have to try and get the
best out of every player, whilst keeping everyone disciplined and working hard.
“I
even got to play with Jim O’Brien and that is something that a lot of youth
team players will take with them throughout their career. He was a very
hard-working player who looked after himself and us, so I think I can take that
with me into the MFL.”
The
18-year-old previously played for Long Eaton at youth level before he moved on
to play for Nottingham Forest under-14s.
Wilde
added: “I played for Long Eaton back when I was 11/12 years old, so I have a
lot of memories at the club.
“The
facilities have changed massively since I left; the new 4G is high quality, the
grass pitch is getting done up which will be nice for the start of the season
and the facilities are such a high standard for the league that we are in.”
Wilde
went out on loan to South Normanton Athletic in the Midland League last season
and starred in their impressive 2-1 victory over Northern Premier League
Premier Division side Matlock Town in the Derbyshire Senior Cup.
Experience
and talent were among some of the main reasons Long Eaton manager Ian Deakin
decided to bring Wilde in. He said: “I am delighted that we have got Charlie at
Long Eaton. He is a player that I have seen play for Notts County and captain
their youth team numerous times. He has really impressed me whenever I have
seen him play and he will add even more quality to an already strong squad.
“There
were lots of clubs trying to secure his services after leaving Notts County and
we are delighted to get our man”. |
