Byfield Goes for the Familiar
Darren Byfield, manager of Total Motion Midland League Premier Division club Walsall Wood, has signed three new players, all of whom have played for him at other clubs.

Experienced defender Dominic Perkins is a big, tall defender. The 25-year-old joined Southern League Premier Division Central side Stratford Town in late January 2020.

 

He has had a well-travelled career around the Midlands non-League scene since starting out at Birmingham City as a youngster.

 

A strong character who is a versatile player capable of playing at centre-back, left-back or central midfield After spells with Boldmere St Michaels, Redditch United, Heather St John`s, Alvechurch, Bedworth United and Hinckley AFC, he joined United Counties League Premier Division outfit Rugby Town in July 2018 and left in May 2019, returning for a second spell with Wood`s league rivals Romulus.

 

Byfield has also re-united with another player he signed when managing Redditch, right winger Michael Nelson.

 

Nelson joined Redditch from Hednesford Town during the 2018/19 season.

 

He was previously with AFC Wulfrunians.

 

Forward Javia Roberts (pictured) possesses electric pace and great ability.

 

The 25-year-old re-joined Southern Premier Central club Alvechurch in June 2019 from Walsall Wood.

 

He was originally with Shrewsbury Town and has also been with Solihull Moors, Rushall Olympic, Hinckley AFC, Bedford Town and Market Drayton Town, spending part of the 2017/18 season with Alvechurch.

 

He re-joined Walsall Wood in late November 2019 and then returned to the Southern Premier Central with Stratford Town a month later.
