North West Counties League First Division South club FC Oswestry Town have reluctantly accepted manager Nathan Leonard's resignation.

Leonard was appointed as manager in November 2019, having been Guilsfield’s director of football.

Leonard, a former player and manager, guided Guilsfield into the upper reaches of the second tier for a number of years.

But he swapped Montgomeryshire for his hometown of Oswestry and his first managerial role.

And in a short space of time, Leonard had built a team that was on the verge of promotion into Step 5 football but, due to the curtailing of the league and the season`s results expunged, this achievement was cruelly snatched away.

The football landscape has changed drastically since March and now due to personal reasons. Leonard felt he could take the club no further.

A statement from the club continued: “As a club we would like to put on the record how proud the club was to have an Oswestrian manage the Town and we wish Nathan the best of luck with any future football role”.
