Proudlock
was appointed after Eccleshall assessed a good number of impressive
applications for the post and then shortlisting and interviewing.
During
his professional career, Proudlock made over 250 appearances for Wolverhampton
Wanderers, Sheffield Wednesday, Clyde, Nottingham Forest, Tranmere, Ipswich
Town, Stockport County, Darlington and Grimsby Town.
He
is also no stranger to non-League football, having played for the likes of AFC Telford
United, Chester, Market Drayton Town and Whitehawk and been player-manager at
Newport Town.
Club
secretary Jim Tunney told https://www.eccleshallfc.co.uk: "We were
pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of the applicants for a club at
Step 6 and the selection process took a little while but we feel that we have
got the right man for the job.
“Adam
outlined his ambitions for the team and the professional approach he wanted to
adopt and impressed the panel with what he had to say. Additionally, we felt
that the knowledge and experience gained from his professional career would be
an asset to the club. After finishing in seventh place in the league, we want
to build on that, and Adam is looking forward to the challenge".
Proudlock
will be supported by three coaches in his backroom team - Steve Wainwright,
Jake Robinson and Ben Henderson, two of which are UEFA B qualified.
They
will bring added knowledge and experience to the team both in training and on
match days.
Proudlock
said: "When I spoke to the chairman and vice-chairman, they discussed what
they were looking to do off the field to improve the facilities at Pershall
Park and their ambitions for the club matched mine in what I feel I can bring
to the team on the pitch.
“Whilst
I have managed in the West Midlands (Regional) League, the North West Counties
League will be a new experience for me. I know it is a good league with some
strong teams who will be challenging for the top places. Eccleshall were up
there too until the season finished prematurely and we need to take that a
stage further when the new season gets underway - whenever that may be. My
first task will be to meet the players, outline my plans and see if we can take
the team forward together. Both myself and my backroom team are pleased to be
at Eccleshall and excited by the challenge we are facing". |
