Director
of football Guillem Balague has announced that Cristian Colas has returned to
the club as head coach.
It
will be Colas` second spell at Biggleswade, having previously spent three years
at the club from May 2015 until June 2018.
His
assistant will be Mark Royal, who is also returning to the club, having worked
as second in command to former boss Mick Reardon.
Balague
said: “While the news of the sudden departure of Chris may well have come out
of the blue, it certainly didn`t come as any great surprise that a club that
play in a higher league should come knocking at our door as it happened before
to our players and coaches. I take it as a fitting tribute to the progress and
work of our club over the past few years.
“I
sincerely believe that with Cristian and Mark we have an exceptional coaching
team and we can now look forward with confidence at continuing where we left
off this season, battling for promotion when the next campaign resumes,
whenever that might be.
“Cristian
is the holder of a UEFA Pro Licence and has coached at the equivalent of
National League level in Spain and worked in England two divisions above in his
last post with Staines Town.
“Most
importantly, he understands the club, its philosophy and ethos and he was, in
fact, instrumental in setting up the style and standards we play and work with
to this day.
“Mark
is a former Chelsea apprentice who also played at Charlton Athletic and is one
of the best known and most knowledgeable people on all matters pertaining to
non-League matters and players in the area”. |
