The
attacking Asplin can play as either a center-forward or a winger and has a
reputation for knowing where the net is.
Having
played at a number of clubs between Step 5 and Step 7, he has also represented the
Whites before, playing in the 2019/20 season's final game against Leek Town.
His
most prolific spells have been at Collingham and Newark Town, for whom he scored
23 goals in 24 games in the Central Midlands League North Division.
Manager
Sam Wilkinson told the club`s website: "I am really pleased that George
has committed to the club after initially being unsure due to work commitments.
“He's
a real live wire in the final third, very sharp, quick and brings that little
bit of unpredictability to the team as he can play off the cuff; but, he's a
real rough diamond who's exciting to watch and can score goals out of nothing.
We're sure we can support his development further, turning him into the
finished article for our level.
"He
signed for us late last season and I saw enough in that game to know he's
matured since the first time he was with the club, doing a great job for the
team.
“The
squad is almost there and there's five or six who are going to train with us, I
believe they can force their way into the team and, ultimately, there will be a
couple of additions before we get started".
