Theo Lewis netted a first-half hat-trick as Vanarama National League new boys Havant & Waterlooville hammered Evo-Stik Southern League South neighbours Gosport Borough 8-0 at Privett Park.

Josh Huggins bagged a brace, while triallist Aaron Cosgrave, new signing Alfie Pavey and Alfie Rutherford were also on the mark for the Hawks.

National League South side Weston-super-Mare had their first outing on Wednesday night as they travelled to Uhlsport Hellenic League Premier Division outfit Brimscombe & Thrupp.

The Seagulls won 4-3 after fielding virtually different teams in each half.

National League North FC United of Manchester made the relatively short trip to Silver Street to play Hallmark Security League Premier Division side Irlam and ran out 3-0 winners.

Bradley Barnes gave the Reds a 44th minute lead and then two late strikes in the 86th and 87th minutes from Jack Bannister completed the scoring.

Evo-Stik Northern Premier League East club Stamford AFC hosted League One neighbours Peterborough United, who ran out comfortable 5-1 winners as former Daniels boss Steve Evans gave the majority of his first-team squad a run-out at the Zeeco Stadium.

The only goal of the first half came from Posh`s new signing Siriki Dembele.

Matt Stevens, who did so well on loan with Kettering Town in the Southern Premier last season, bagged a second-half brace, with George Cooper and Joe Ward wrapping up the scoring, with Liam Adams replying for the home side.

Southern League West side Cirencester Town went down 3-1 at the Corinium Stadium to League One Swindon Town.

Goals from two triallists and Keshi Anderson were enough to see Phil Brown’s side through their opening pre-season game, Aiden Bennett hit a late consolation for Ciren.

Fraser Hansen missed the chance to put the home side ahead from the penalty spot when he saw his spot-kick saved by Jody Barford.

Brid punished them for that miss in the second half with goals from Chris Adams after 65 minutes, Ben Stimpson 4 minutes from time and Jake Day in the 89th minute.

Hall Road and Bridlington`s league rivals Barton Town were edged out 3-2 at home by SkyBet League One Scunthorpe United`s academy lads.

Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) One side Downton suffered a 4-1 defeat at Hampshire Leaguers Bush Hill.

James Davis, Lewis Kelly, Martyn Randall and Sean Haines scored for Bush Hill, Harry Crisp for Downton.

South West Peninsula League side Callington were beaten 3-1 at home by former rivals and now Toolstation Western League newcomers Plymouth Parkway.

Ricky Coton gave Cally the lead, but Mike Williams and Mikey Smith with two won it for the visitors.

Southern League West side Bristol Manor Farm looked good as they started pre-season with a 6-1 hammering of Western League Premier Division outfit Roman Glass St George at Henbury.

Troy Simpson netted a hat-trick for Manor Farm and Dean Stamp a brace, with youngster Rex Mannings adding the other.

Roman Glass`s Jack Durrant saw a first half penalty saved by Josh Dempsey when the score was 1-0.

Ebac Northern League First Division Shildon shared a 2-2 Dene Street draw with League One side Sunderland`s under-23 side.

The young visitors led 2-0 at the break through Alex Storey and Jack Diamond, but a Billy Greulich-Smith brace – the second from the spot – earned the hosts a draw.

Shildon`s league rivals Penrith beat North West Counties Division One North side Holker Old Boys 3-1.

Goals from Kyle May, Jordan Irving and Brandon Robertson for the Cumbrians.

Essex Senior Leaguers Redbridge started pre-season well with a 3-0 win at Spartan South Midlands Premier outfit Hadley.

Hellenic League Premier Division Ascot United were beaten 1-0 at Thames Valley Leaguers Cookham Dean, whose Nathan Lishman scored the only goal for the lower league outfit.
