Veteran Defender Joins Pikes
Northern Premier League Division One North West club Pickering Town have signed vastly experienced defender Dave Merris.

The 39-year-old joins from NPL Premier Division neighbours Scarborough Athletic, who he joined in 2016 and was club captain in their promotion season and then moved on to become player/assistant manager.

 

Born in Rotherham, he was a member of the youth system of home-town club Rotherham United before joining Guiseley in 1998.

 

He moved to Harrogate Town in September 1999, with whom he won the Northern Premier First Division title in the 2001/02 season.

 

He made 148 appearances and scored 11 goals for Harrogate during this period.

 

He went on to play for a number of clubs in Yorkshire during his career, such as York City, Harrogate Town, Ossett Town and Guiseley before signing for Scarborough.
