Woods joins the club having featured for North West Counties League Premier Division side West Didsbury & Chorlton last season, playing in both games against Celtic in the Emirates FA Cup.

Prior to joining West, Woods was at 1874 Northwich and lists Ramsbottom United, Abbey Hey and Hyde United as previous clubs.

Manager Simon Haworth told http://www.stalybridgeceltic.co.uk: “Ben is a good signing for us, left-back has been a real problem position for us over the last 2 seasons and Ben has come in and made a real good impression.

“With his pace and energy and enthusiasm to learn, the number 3 shirt is his to lose.

“I’m hoping he will have a real good season with us”.
