The Southend-born midfielder signed for the Arsenal academy when he was 8 and played in the youth sides up till the age of 16, before signing a two-year scholarship with SkyBet Championship side Ipswich Town.

He signed his first professional contract in July 2016 and played for the Tractor Boys’ under 18s.

The last two seasons has seen Blanchfield enjoy a spell with the under-23s in which he made 56 appearances.

During last season, Blanchfield signed a one-month loan deal with the Daggers` league rivals Aldershot Town, where he made one appearance.

Blanchfield is looking forward to working with new manager Peter Taylor, telling https://www.daggers.co.uk: “I have been having talks for the past couple of weeks and to finally get everything done I am over the moon and can’t wait to get started and show the fans and the manager what I am capable of.

“When the opportunity first came up, my Dad told me what a great manager Peter is and how lucky I am to get the opportunity to play under him, so I can’t wait to start learning from him".
