The 30-year-old has put pen-to-paper for the Dragons after being released by SkyBet League Two side Grimsby Town at the end of last season.

Summerfield brings vast experience to the Wrexham side after over a decade in the Football League.

He has around 300 League appearances to his name after beginning his career with Plymouth Argyle.

After loan spells with AFC Bournemouth and Leyton Orient, he moved to Cheltenham Town in the summer of 2011.

After a successful season, he earned a move to League One side Shrewsbury where he was a regular again before a switch to York City in 2014.

Summerfield would make 65 League appearances for York over the next two seasons, scoring 11 goals.

He left the Minstermen following their relegation last term and joined Grimsby.

Despite been a regular during the opening months of the 2016/17 campaign, Summerfield found himself out of the team and in February 2017 went to then-National League side Macclesfield Town on loan get some more game time and made18 appearances.

Sam Ricketts told https://www.wrexhamafc.co.uk: “I am really pleased to bring Luke to Wrexham AFC.

“He is a very good player who has plied his trade at a very good level over the course of his career. He’s a fit lad who keeps himself in good shape, so it won’t be a problem him slotting straight into pre-season.

“He lives locally which is another bonus and I’m really looking forward to working with him this season”.
