The iPitch at the Halton Stadium has failed its annual FIFA artificial pitch test, and as a result, Widnes have agreed to a temporary groundshare with Barnton to ensure their immediate status as members of the Northern Premier League.

However, with the help of Barnton, the Northern Premier League and Halton Borough Council, the club have been able to secure a return to the Halton Stadium once the pitch has been re-laid – due to take place following the conclusion of the Super League season in the autumn.
