Essex Senior League Premier Division club Takeley have pulled off a major coup by re-signing prolific marksman Charlie Cole.

Cole joined then-Bostik League Premier side Billericay Town ahead of what turned out to be a magnificent 2017/18 season.

He had scored 59 goals for Takeley during the previous season - the 23-year-old breaking a record set by current Newcastle United striker Dwight Gayle

But with Billericay`s array of star names and top strikers such as Jake Robinson, Cole joined Bostik North sides Canvey Island and then Hertford Town on loan before leaving the Blues at the end of last season.

Takeley manager Marc Das was obviously delighted to get Cole back: “I have looked to improve our strong squad and to have Charlie back in the fold is a massive coup that will help the club reach new heights.”

Partnering Cole in Takeley`s attack will be another prolific Essex League marksman in Josh Sykes.

Sykes joins from league rivals Redbridge, having had previous experienced with Enfield 1893, Eton Manor, Heybridge Swifts and Romford.

Das added: “Josh Sykes will bring a different dimension to our play & offer us an option that we’ve not had before”.
