The
midfielder joined the Bluebirds on loan from the Pirates last January and
impressed as Chippenham’s form improved greatly under new manager Mike Cook.
Russe
made his debut for the Gas first-team in August last year, coming on as a
substitute in the 5-1 EFL Trophy win away to Wycombe Wanderers.
The
young midfielder was largely part of the development squad but was included in
the 24-man squad that went to Portugal in the 2019 pre-season.
Cook
told the club`s website: “Luke is a player who I have long admired and I am
sure will become an integral part of the club going forward in the next few
seasons.
“In
his games for the club so far, he has shown to be an outstanding defensive
midfield player and somebody who became well liked and appreciated by the team
for his hard work and effort. An unassuming lad who was taken by the support
and welcome given to him by the board of directors and fans last season.
“When
we first spoke with Luke regarding the club and its plans for the next three
seasons he was genuinely impressed by the commitment and ambition of the
chairman and directors with the stadium and progress towards playing in the
National League”. |
