Brown is a right-back who started his youth career at home-town club Sheffield United.

He rose through the ranks of the Blades academy before signing a professional contract in the summer of 2011.

Unable to make a break into the first-team, he joined Oldham Athletic in 2012.

Brown, 25, made 89 appearances for the then-League One side, scoring one goal in his four years at Boundary Park.

Whilst at Oldham he had an eight-game loan spell at Carlisle United.

In September 2016 he joined then-National League side Guiseley AFC and made over 50 appearances at Nethermoor before joining York City on loan earlier this year.

He then joined the Bootham Crescent outfit after just four loan appearances.

Brown joins the Bluebirds having played from the start in Saturday`s abandoned friendly against a Furness Select XI.
