The
now 37-year-old has recently moved back to the Birmingham area to live and is friendly
with the new regime at the club.
Pennant
last played for Billericay Town in 2017/18 at the time when the Essex side were
signing big-name players such as Jamie O`Hara, Paul Konchesky and Pennant.
He
started his career with Notts County and was signed as a youth by Arsenal in
1999.
He
went on to play 15 times for the Gunners as well as having loan spells with
Watford, Leeds United and Birmingham City.
A
permanent move to St Andrews followed in 2005 and, after 38 games and 2 goals,
a transfer to Liverpool for a fee of £6.7m followed in the summer of 2006.
He
won the 2006 FA Community Shield and also played a role in the Reds’ run to the
2007 UEFA Champions League Final where Liverpool lost 2–1 to Milan.
Moves
to Spanish side Real Zaragoza, Stoke City, the Indian League with FC Pune City and
Singapore League with Tampines Rovers followed as well as spells with Wigan
Athletic and more latterly, Bury.
Pennant,
who has 24 caps for England under-21s, is expecting to make a decision on
whether to make his comeback a more permanent one before the start of the
season when both parties can assess the situation.
