Versatile
defender Tinkler (pictured) made 30 appearances in the National League with Aldershot Town
in 2019/20 before lockdown.
The
24-year-old joined the Shots in June 2019 from Gateshead.
He
spent the 2018/19 season at the International Stadium where he played in all
but one of their 46 games, scoring twice.
He
originally joined the Heed on loan back in the 2017/18, making 17 appearances
and becoming a fans favourite, prompting the then-Heed boss Steve Watson to
sign him in the summer of 2018 following his release from Championship side
Middlesbrough.
A
graduate of the Boro academy, he failed to make a first team appearance whilst
at the Teessiders and had also spent time out on loan at North Ferriby United
whilst they were in the National League North.
Barrow

Gateshead.
The
experienced 31-year-old Welsh-born left-back joined Gateshead in June 2017
following a season at Southern League Premier Division South side Merthyr Town
after previously impressing in League Two with Newport County.
A
Swansea City youth player, he left the Liberty Stadium outfit in 2006 and honed
his trade with Port Talbot Town and Tamworth over a seven-year period before
switching to Macclesfield Town in 2014 where he was later named in the
Conference Premier team of the year.
Following
his first season with Gateshead he was named as both the club and supporters’
player of the year while also picking up the goal of the season award for his
stunning strike in the FA Trophy semi-final against Bromley at the
International Stadium.
Watson,
who managed both players in his time at Gateshead, told https://www.yorkcityfootballclub.co.uk:
“If you’ve worked with players before and you’re keen to make them a part of what
you are doing it speaks volumes for what I think of them.
“We
are looking at lads who can kick on. We don’t want to be releasing a dozen
players every year. What I’m doing is trying to put a squad together to
challenge to not only win this league but who I know can compete higher –
that's the aim.
“If
you look at what Simon [Weaver] has done at Harrogate, that squad has been
together for three, four, five years in the making and they have achieved their
goal. I don’t want it to take that long, but I want to put a squad together
that we can build on going forward". |
