....the summer whilst also confirming the retention of most of last season’s squad.

Defender Lewis Short moves to Harrison Park from JD Welsh Premier side Bala Town.

Starting out at Congleton Town, the 28-year-old then moved to Crewe Alexandra, where he first came across his new boss, before spells at Nantwich Town, Northwich Victoria, Airbus UK Broughton and Connah’s Quay.

A player that is known for his long throws, Short made almost 100 starts in the Welsh Premier and also has Europa League experience.

The second new arrival is striker Tyler Blake.

Blake formerly turned out for Nottingham Forest as a schoolboy, before joining Mansfield Town at the age of 16.

He enjoyed a superb first campaign with the Stags under-18s, playing a vital role in their Football League Youth Alliance title-winning campaign.

His season was capped off in perfect style by picking up the Academy Player of the Season award.

Now 20, Blake has had spells out on loan with Corby Town, Mickleover Sports, Frickley Athletic and Carlton Town.

Baker told his club`s website: “Lewis is a left-sided player that can play left-back or higher up the pitch. It’s a position we have prioritised this summer and delighted he chose to come to Leek despite being sought after by clubs higher up the Pyramid.

“Tyler is an attacking player who again had many choices of clubs. He can play wide or down the middle and his goalscoring record will add to the firepower already at the club.”

Baker has agreed terms with Ben Chapman, Danny Roberts, Niall Green, Joe Kearns, Mat Bailey, Scott Lycett, Darren Chadwick, Niall Maguire, Marc Grocott, Sam Hall and Tim Grice from last season`s squad.

Meanwhile, confirmed as leaving the club are Jordan Lemon, who has returned to his former side Spalding United and Sam Grimshaw, who has signed for Ashton United.
