....in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South, the club have moved to appoint Koo Dumbuya as their new manager together with his assistant Sam Waters.

Both are locally based and ex-players of Fleet Town.

Forty-seven-year-old Dumbaya is a qualified UEFA A Licensed coach with extensive experience which includes management and coaching stints at Reading, Aldershot Town, Farnborough, Woking, Cove and AFC Wimbledon.

Commenting on his appointment Dumbaya told https://fleettownfc.co.uk: “I am very excited about this new challenge particularly as I have a special affinity with Fleet Town from the time when I played for them in the early ‘naughties’.

“We know it is not going to be easy because we are starting from scratch with players and preparation, but we are confident that come the start of the season we will be able to put out a competitive Southern League side. Our first aim will be to make sure that we stay away from the relegation zone and then see where that takes us.”

Twenty-nine-year-old Waters will assist Koo. He is also a qualified UEFA B Licensed coach who was academy manager at Aldershot Town for two seasons.

He has also coached at Premier League side Southampton’s much-acclaimed academy and is currently coaching full-time at Queens Park Rangers.

The club is keen to create an ethos which is based on developing mostly local players in the early stages of their career who are keen to gain experience at Step 4 and above.

The emphasis will be on the quality of coaching, player development and management.

To this end Fleet Town feels it has made exactly the right appointments.
