....Torquay United from National League North side Blyth Spartans.

MacDonald, 21, initially joined Blyth during the 2016/17 Evo-Stik Northern Premier League title-winning campaign on loan from Gateshead – but failed to make an appearance before being recalled to the International Stadium.

The shot-stopper joined Spartans permanently last summer to compete for the number one jersey – starting the campaign with the shirt in a 2-0 away defeat at the hands of Alfreton Town – a game in which he made some outstanding saves.

He went on to make six appearances for the club, keeping two clean sheets.

Torquay`s head coach Gary Owers told https://www.torquayunited.com: “He’s someone that I have worked with in the past, up at Gateshead.

“He has experience of playing in the National League and he came down to play in the trial games at the end of last season, which we held. He did very, very well.”

“He was in my thoughts and he drove down here for seven hours and he’s been rewarded for that. I want him to come in and compete with Alex for that spot”.
