In
a tie delayed six months due to COVID-19, the Yeltz lost 2-1 to Vanarama
National League South side Concord Rangers at The Aspect Arena.
After
a run in which three National League teams were beaten as well as two National
League North outfits, the momentum perhaps was lost but, nevertheless, the West
Midlands club did the league proud.
And
they got off to a great start too when, after just 7 minutes had gone on the
clock, Simeon Cobourne found Richard Gregory, who fired the Yeltz into the
lead.
But
8 minutes before half-time, disaster for Halesowen defender Rob Evans, who turned
a cross past keeper Brendan Bunn and into his own net.
The
second half saw the visitors more than hold their own until 10 minutes from
time when Concord striker Alex Wall was put through one-on-one with Bunn and
lifted the ball over the stranded keeper and into the back of the net.
So,
it will be the Beachboys who will play at Wembley later this month against
either Notts County or Harrogate Town but what a run by the Step 4 team – and
who knows what might have happened but for the pandemic. |
